Thanks to Jennifer Cole, senior account manager at Ducky-Bobs, A Classic Party Rentals Company for answering this week’s reader question:

What are some tips for working with a budget when it comes to rentals?

Managing a wedding budget can be stressful and overwhelming for any bride. As you scroll through the internet reading story after story of brides going over budget, you realize that balancing the necessary and desired elements of a wedding while maintaining a budget requires discipline but it is not impossible!

We offer a few tips for the discerning bride to make the most of their rental budget.

  1. Be honest and upfront about your rental budget. A good rental company will work within this budget to make sure you have the items that are most important or make the most impact.
  2. Hire a certified wedding planner. Planners help manage your budget while making sure the necessities are taken care of. In the end they usually pay for themselves by saving you money and time.
  1. Showcase impact pieces. Linens matter. One of the easiest and least expensive ways to transform a room is with upscale linen. You can also customize the head table. Chargers, specialty chairs, and glassware set the stage for beautiful photos and set the bride and groom apart.
  1. Utilize one vendor for all rental items. This helps create a cohesive look, eliminates multiple delivery and pick up fees as well as the headache of scheduling deliveries.

Be flexible with delivery and pickup times.  Specific time, after hours and Sunday delivery or pickup mean higher fees. Also think about picking up and returning small orders. This leaves more money in the budget for your rentals.
