When Brittany Jones and Kevin Jones met through mutual friends at Arkansas State University, they never expected to fall in love. It took several years, and prompts from their friends, but eventually their silly friendship blossomed into something much more.
Each year, Brittany’s family takes a vacation for Memorial Day. Last year, Destin was the designated spot, and Kevin joined. While there, he told Brittany he wanted to watch the sunrise. Brittany, thinking nothing of it, agreed to the early wake-up call. At 5 a.m., they trekked down to the beach right outside their condo. Once there, they realized they couldn’t actually see the sunrise because the sun was located behind beachside high-rises. They took a picture to capture Kevin’s failed attempt at being romantic. But Kevin decided to roll with the punches. He got down on one knee, explaining to her how thankful he was for her support and patience throughout their journey, and that he would love nothing more than to continue it together. She said yes, and the dolphins came out to play (literally). The rest is history!
At Arkansas State, Brittany studied journalism and Kevin studied Business Management. Brittany works for The Dallas Morning News, and Kevin works at Fair Park High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. The two will be married on Saturday, September 2 at the Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas, Texas.
