Thanks to President of Reunion Tower Dusti Groskreutz for answering today’s question.
I’m thinking of proposing, but it seems so overwhelming! How should I pop the question?
Reunion Tower sees, on average, two proposals per day (read more statistics in This Is This Most Romantic Place In Dallas.) That’s a lot of bent knees, important questions and tears of happiness! Over the years, we’ve seen some proposals go very well. If you’re thinking about popping the question, let us offer you just a few tips to consider ahead of time:
1. Hire a photographer to capture behind the scenes of the proposal. Or, if you don’t hire a professional photographer, make sure you have someone incognito to snap action shots of the proposal. This is a once in a lifetime event! Pictures or it didn’t happen, right?
2. If it’s a public venue, work with their staff ahead of time to make sure everything is in order. For example, Reunion Tower has staff members called Love Is In The Air Coordinators with the sole responsibility of ONLY organizing engagements. Your future fiancée deserves the best!
3. Would your future fiancée like a big celebration surprise with family and friends after? Reunion Tower has an event space, Cloud Nine, which is often used for a surprise party after the engagement. Work with your venue to provide drinks and light appetizers for guests to nibble on as they congratulate you on a job well done.
4. If friends and family are flying in for the engagement, give them plenty of advanced notice and guidance. Should your soon-to-be-fiancée’s squad live out of Dallas, they’ll already be paying to be part of your special moment. Be a gracious host and give them recommendations for places to stay that are near your proposal spot. For example, The Hyatt Regency Dallas is connected to Reunion Tower, making it easy for out of town guests to transition from their “hiding spots” to the proposal without needing to navigate a new city.
5. If you aren’t going to have an engagement party immediately following, make sure you have something fun and romantic to do after. A lot of our engaged couples go to our fine dining restaurant, Five Sixty, immediately following their engagement. You’ve put so much time and effort into the proposal, now it’s time to celebrate with your new fiancée!
6. Take it all in. Maybe you’re at the top of Reunion Tower looking out over the city where you fell in love, or maybe you’re at the park where you first met standing in line for a food truck. Wherever you are and whatever that place means to you, take a minute to just be in the moment. No phones, no taking snaps of the new ring… just you and your love!
