Two years ago, Amber attended a wedding at the Ritz-Carlton, Dallas where Ahad’s aunt spotted her and introduced herself. Two weeks later, Amber and Ahad were introduced via Facebook and the first thing Amber said to Ahad was, “Hi. You’re a Red Skins fan? What?” Amber, a die-hard Cowboys fan, had serious qualms about his allegiances. She still agreed to meet him–hopefully with the football conversation off the table–and they had their first date at Nobu. Ahad was a medical resident in Temple at the time and Amber was settled in Dallas with her career, so Amber ended the relationship due to bad timing. Two years later in the Spring of 2014, she saw a picture of Ahad on Facebook and reached out to him and traded messages but left it at that. A few months later, Ahad mentioned to her that he would be in Dallas and she offered to meet him for dinner to catch up before he went back to Washington D.C. where he was living. They had a long dinner, caught up, and Amber noticed that Ahad was “different.” With no expectations for a relationship, they began texting as friends and their communication blossomed into “something sweet and wholesome, but not forced.” Two months later, they went on their second date and fell in love.
Ahad took Amber me to Paris, France for a winter getaway during the Christmas holiday. “There’s only so many selfies we can take, so we planned couples photo shoot by an amazing and talented photographer Catherine O’Hara,” says Amber. Ahad always joked that Amber “incepted” him for their first date, so they planned to have their photo taken at the famous Bir Hakeim Bridge where the movie Inception was filmed. As they were getting ready to take photos, he dropped to one knee. Amber gasped because she knew what was happening, but she couldn’t believe it. They continued on the photo shoot at the Louvre and famous Love Lock Bridge.
Amber went to Emory University and has a Masters in Nursing Science. She is a practicing Women’s OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner. Ahad went to Johns Hopkins University and studied medicine at Texas A&M University. They will marry Saturday, June 13, 2015 at The Rosewood Crescent.
