Brittany and Eric met while they were attending the University of Maryland—she was a freshman and he was a senior. They developed a friendship through their sorority and fraternity partnerships and would take casual trips to IHOP together. Before they knew it, they were spending more time with one another and became a couple.
Eric had recently started a new job and called Brittany on his way home to tell her to get dressed for a nice dinner to celebrate. They dined at Five Sixty and enjoyed a lovely meal chatting about Eric’s new job. When dinner was over, Brittany was tired from a long week and excited about going home to relax with Eric, but her boyfriend had other plans. Eric insisted they go out for dessert and Brittany agreed. (How could she not when he was acting so excited about dessert!) After thirty minutes in the car on their way to Las Colinas, Brittany started to get suspicious. They pulled up to a gondola that was waiting to take them on a ride—along with the aforementioned dessert. While under the bridge Eric told her to close her eyes and when she did, there was a ring waiting for her. She was shocked–and thrilled–that Eric had managed to surprise her with a proposal.
Eric graduated from the University of Maryland in 2008 with a bachelors in government and politics. He completed his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2012. Brittany graduated from the University of Maryland in 2011 with a bachelor degree in English. She went on to receive her Ed.M. in prevention science and practice from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2012. They will marry in Washington, DC on July 4, 2014.
