Growing up in Highland Park, Shelby and Matt attended all of the same schools, but did not formally meet until Matt graduated from Texas Christian University in 2007. Shelby had just moved back to Dallas after graduating from the University of Oklahoma and the pair would often bump into one another while out with friends on the weekends. The officially fell for one another on St. Patrick’s Day 2010 while attending a mutual friend’s party. They set out on their first date that Easter Sunday and spent the next two years dating before Matt asked Shelby to marry him while vacationing at her family’s lake house on Lake Texoma in the spring of 2012.
Shelby has always admired Jan Barboglio’s designs and knew that she wanted to incorporate her style into the dreamy day. Fete Des Fleurs and The Ritz-Carlton arranged long, rustic tables and dark, wooden chiavari chairs dressed with purple and pink flower arrangements, candles, horns, and other earthy accents to create a warm and elegant vibe. The couple recalls their grandparent’s participation in the ceremony as one of the most special moments of the day. Shelby’s grandmother, Patricia Hoge Brown and Matt’s grandfather, Ernest Poulos, stood before the crowd and presented personal sentiments and wishes for the couple’s new life together.
