Cassandra and David have known each other since high school and college. They were even set up on a date by their mutual friends their sophomore year of college. They went out, but there weren’t any sparks at the time. Plus, they were long distance with David in Dallas and Cassandra in Waco. Senior year, Cassandra decided to pursue the last year of her college degree in New York where she wanted to launch her public relations career. After living in the city for six months, she heard through the grapevine that David was moving there. They met up for a drink and they’ve been together since.
David had Cassandra fooled under the guise of a “four-year plan.” Meaning: they would not be engaged while they were still living in New York City. However, David had met with her parents, found a ring, and made a different plan—one that entailed a trip of a lifetime. They set off for Thailand and Cambodia with David’s family over the New Years holiday. He arranged for a chartered boat to take the group on a tour of the Phuket islands. After a day of exploring the famous beach via kayaks, they ended the afternoon with a swim at Rang Yai beach. David asked Cassandra to take a walk down the beach and all of a sudden he was down on one knee with a ring. Needless to say, Cassandra was in complete shock and said yes. Her only wish for the proposal was that she be surprised, and David succeeded.
Cassandra studied at Baylor University and majored in journalism and art history. David attended Southern Methodist University and studied economics and business. The couple will marry on March 29 at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
