Kelyn Gum and Barrett Harms were married on July 27, 2016 at the Vine Hill House at O’Connell Vineyard.
The two met during their freshman year of college at Baylor University at a showing of the movie Eagle Eye. Having tagged along with friends, the two ended up sitting right next to each other. While the movie was terrible, Kelyn and Barrett hit it off, joking and laughing the whole way through. Fast-forward eight years later to the proposal. The two were spending New Year’s Eve in Austin with Barrett’s family. With time to spare before the evening’s festivities, “Barrett surprised me by taking us kayaking in Zilker Park,” Kelyn recounts. The two made their way to the dock to find beautifully strung lights, romantic music playing, and a two-person kayak awaiting them. As the sun set on the two paddling towards the Austin skyline, Barrett proposed and the rest was history.
The couple opted for simple, soft, and whimsical decorations, making sure to include lots of herbs, greenery, and even a hint of rustic to keep things interesting. The gorgeous California vineyard they chose as their venue spoke for itself and ultimately fit perfectly with their vision.
While it was difficult to pinpoint one single thing that made their day so special, Kelyn remarks that having all their close friends and family together was truly a gift. She furthers that one of the day’s most memorable moments was the father-daughter dance she shared with her dad. Making their special moment even more so, he introduced their dance with sweet sentiments of its importance to them and surprised Kelyn with a beautiful Andrea Bocelli song they both love and a quick costume change, too.
The two attended Baylor University together. Currently, Kelyn works as a special education teacher, and Barrett serves as the CEO of Table Ten Digital Marketing.
