It took not one run in at a bar, but two chance encounters for Adrienne and Joe to finally see that sparks would fly. On the first night, the two made the connection that they both attended the University of Kansas. They chatted for a bit, but no numbers were exchanged or plans made. The next night, Adrienne’s sister dragged her out of the house, but this time Adrienne was not prepared to once again see the future man of her dreams. “Wearing leggings and an oversized shirt, with my hair in a pony tail and zero makeup on, I concede to her begging and go out to be her wing woman,” Adrienne recalls. Who walks in the bar but Joe. That night he got her number, called her the next Monday, and made a date for Tuesday. “Our story is not romantic. But it’s ours, and I love it,” she says.
After three and a half years of dating, Joe figured out that Adrienne loved receiving gifts. But not just receiving them–she loved finding them in their hiding spots before it was time to receive the gift. To have fun with Adrienne’s affinity for hunting for gifts, he hid multiple “fake” engagement rings around the house. After three weeks, she found six rings and had fun with the game. Then, one night, Joe asked Adrienne to a Rangers game. As she was getting dressed, she noticed another ring. And then another. After finding a few more, Joe told Adrienne to look at dogs’ tags. “He changed their tags to read Chase Santaularia and Goose Santaularia. That was the moment, when I thought, ‘This is actually happening,'” she explains. He then got down on one knee, but this time with a real ring.
They both attended the University of Kansas. Joe graduated with a bachelor’s in business and works at Bradford Realty. Adrienne graduated with bachelors in journalism and mass communication and works for Bob Lilly Promotions. They will marry Saturday, January 21, 2017, at St. Jude’s Chapel in downtown Dallas with an intimate wedding of immediate family members.
