Amy and Lucas went on their first date years into their friendship. “Over the years we were able to learn more about the other and grew to respect one another without an interest in dating,” explains Amy. However, when Lucas finally convinced Amy to go on a proper date, it only took that one night for Amy to realize that he was the one for her. He got down on one knee while walking through Amy’s neighborhood Junius Heights. Three months later, they were married.

On July 1, 2016, Amy and Lucas said “I do” at The Room on Main with their family and friends surrounding them. The decor was classic, with a touch of history. They used one of Lucas’ grandfather’s books as their guest sign-in and spray painted branches from neighborhoods in East Dallas. “It was easy and I loved the simplicity,” she says.

She looks back at the night and remembers fondly dancing with her nephew Knox, whose rare disease hinders him from being able to walk normally and hear. “He loves music especially when it’s loud because he is able to feel the vibration and hear the tunes. To see him bouncing up and down and smiling on our dance floor was everything,” she says. “He brought a ton of joy to everyone there and made our wedding day.”
