Elizabeth and Spencer first met in 2014 at a party, welcoming some friends to Dallas. After many parties, brunches, lunches, bocce ball games, and get-togethers, Elizabeth developed a crush on Spencer. At the urging of a few friends, the two went on their first date in December. By the end of the following month, they were “official.”
The proposal took place in San Francisco in October of 2015. The two almost missed their flight due to a basement flood, but made it out the door with just enough time to get to the airport. “After carting out 15 buckets of water, Spencer managed to convince his HOA to come and soak up the rest,” says Elizabeth. “We made it to our flight just in time.” The following day, Spencer rented a Camaro SS convertible, and drove Elizabeth out to the Muir Woods. Though parking was sparse, Spencer insisted they stay. In a little hollow off the main path, Spencer surprised Elizabeth with a ring. He bent on one knee, having already set up a camera to capture the special moment, and asked her to marry him. Elizabeth replied, “Are you serious?” to which Spencer nodded, “Yes.” She happily agreed.
Spencer attended Luther College in Iowa, graduating with a degree in biology, while Elizabeth studied at the University of Richmond. There, she majored in studio art and minored in journalism. Spencer works at the IBM company, SoftLayer. Elizabeth works at WorldVentures. Their wedding date is Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church with a reception to follow at the Trinity River Audubon Center.
