These two Aggies met not at A&M, but at the cigar bar at Javier’s, where a mutual friend was having a party to celebrate their team playing in the Cotton Bowl the next day. After being introduced, Amanda and Brendon chatted briefly and went their separate ways. Several days later, Brendon sent Amanda a message on Facebook and the couple started dating.
Amanda says that their engagement was “based off some of the things we value the most: our family, our friends, and our home.” After a peaceful Saturday morning brunch and a sunny afternoon at Klyde Warren Park, they went back to their house. There, Amanda discovered a trail of rose petals and wine corks. They had saved these corks as tokens of their special moments together: a date and a memory was written on each one. The corks and petals led to a bottle of champagne in the living room. Next to the bottle was the final wine cork, which read “Will you…” When Amanda turned around, she found Brendon on one knee. Crying happy tears, Amanda said yes. They arrived at their dinner reservations at Javier’s, where both of their parents were there to celebrate. The surprises continued at the HG Sply Co. rooftop, where friends from near and far gathered to celebrate Amanda and Brendon with an engagement party.
For their nuptials on February 6, 2016, Amanda wanted romantic colors, but not the typical bright Valentine’s Day red that one might expect for a February wedding. They ended up with a soft blush pink and champagne color palette, perfect for the feel they wanted. The most special moment for Amanda was her and Brendon’s private dance that they shared at the end of the reception. Amanda recalls the sweet, peaceful moment that let them reflect on the wonderful evening surrounded by people they loved. As for Amanda’s advice to other soon-to-be brides? “Hire a videographer! The whole weekend flew by so quickly and it’s hard to remember it all! We wish we had a video documenting all of the wedding festivities so that we could relive the memories.”
