Though Pailey and Dan were in the same youth group as kids, their paths didn’t cross until mutual friends insisted they meet in Los Angeles, right before Pailey’s upcoming move there. During the couple’s first date at a Santa Monica wine bar, they had such a good time that they ended up closing down the restaurant.
On a camping trip in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois, Pailey’s sister Micole flew in to surprise her as a “late birthday present.” Though Pailey claimed to have no idea of any potential proposal that weekend, her scheduled hair and nail appointments prior to a camping trip said otherwise. When Micole arrived, Pailey was sure a proposal was close, but she was still without a ring at the end of the night. When they left for their road trip to a nearby campground, Pailey dressed to the nines, expecting a surprise. Fires were built and tents were made, but no proposals were executed. The next morning, they planned to hike to a stunning waterfall. This had to be it, right? When they reached the end of their hike and posed for a picture, Dan got down on one knee and pulled out a candy Ring Pop. Pailey had had enough.
Though she was still frustrated, Pailey was convinced to go on another hike with Micole, Dan, and their dog Izzy. They arrived at a beautiful lookout named Lover’s Leap, where Dan took a knee once more– this time with a real ring and a proposal.
Dan attended the University of Georgia and studied business management. He owns and runs a recruiting consultancy company. Pailey attended the University of Arizona and studied political science. She works for Marketo, a marketing technology company. The two will marry on September 4, 2016, at the Adolphus Hotel.
