Sean and Josh had known each other since elementary school, but they did not start dating until the summer before Sean’s senior year at Texas Christian University. Knowing Sean for so long, Josh had learned that she was notoriously hard to surprise, so a lengthy proposal plan was in order.

Josh enlisted Sean’s sister and her friend Courtney to assist him with his surprise at Sean’s workplace. He stationed himself on the second floor of Neiman Marcus, where Sean works as a buyer. Jess, Sean’s previous buyer at the time of the proposal, called Sean down to train her new replacement. As Sean, a natural and enthusiastic teacher, talked and talked, Courtney said, “It’s after six o’clock, it’s time for you to go home!” But before Sean could go home, Jess said that she needed to bring a book down to the second floor for a photo shoot. Sean left to bring the book and searched for the supposed photo shoot (no such luck!). Though she couldn’t find the nonexistent photo shoot, she did find something else—Josh, standing with flowers in hand to propose. Sean says, “I was so shocked and caught off guard, I don’t remember a word he said! I know, I know, so cliche.” After the proposal, Sean and Josh walked to the bridal salon, where both Sean and Josh’s sisters and Courtney were waiting to congratulate the couple.

Sean attended Texas Christian University and studied fashion merchandising with a minor in journalism. She works in the buying offices for Neiman Marcus. Josh attended the University of Mississippi and studied exercise science. He works at CU Members Mortgage. The two will marry on August 6, 2016, at the Perkins Chapel at Southern Methodist University, where Sean’s parents married over 25 years ago. A reception will follow at the Room on Main.
